What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

The item upgrader adds a brand new widget to the top of the Angel and Cash Upgrade windows. The Manager is priced at 33 billion Angel Investors, and has no benefit in terms of gameplay other than making it easier to purchase upgrades.

Boosts

There are a myriad of boosts available with an item upgrader. They can include stats and additional bonuses. These bonuses can be incorporated into weapons, armor, and trinkets. They can be used to improve the abilities of a character, or they can be used to add an aspect of variety to a build.

Certain items come with inherent boos that are less useful when upgraded, for example the Goldwrap that gives you extra potion slots. These are often upgraded to add more value to a near-perfect or perfect Best item upgrade.

Costs

Upgrades have certain costs associated with them. The most significant cost is the upgrade itself. The cost is based on the new ilvl of the item and the amount of perks it gains and can be costly. It is also costly to upgrade an item to a higher tier (such as Explorer > Champion or Veteran > Heroic).

The other is the cost of the materials required to upgrade. There are however limitations to this, and the maximum amount of material that can be added is displayed just above the + button in the user interface.

Another way to increase the chance of an upgrade achieving success is by using an item upgrader mod called a Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version of it. This item is beneficial when you own a weapon or piece of equipment that is at the highest level for its tier or is close to it. It allows you to upgrade the equipment to the next level without risking breaking.

If an upgrade fails it will be returned to its original condition. This is typically a downgrade, but can also be an upgrade. You should save an upgrade until you reach the maximum level of an item.
