The iRobot Home App is easy to use, but we found it less reliable than other robotic cleaner apps. It can take a while to download updates, and sometimes it's difficult to tell if the update is actually working until you see it in the action.

2. Roborock Q5+

If you're looking to purchase an automated vacuum cleaner that can do more than just clean floors, your best choice is probably one that is a hybrid. These machines are equipped with a water tank, so they can vacuum and mop simultaneously. They also come with a variety of additional features, such as smart mapping, small obstacle avoidance, and the ability to wash and dry mopping pads. The negative is that they can be expensive at retail, but during Black Friday and Cyber Monday they are often reduced in price.

Roborock makes some of our favorite robotic vacuums and the Q5+ does not disappoint. This is their least expensive auto-empty model, and while it's not equipped with certain features you'll find on higher-end models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's still a great option if you're willing to sacrifice a bit to save a few hundred dollars.

The Q5+ is extremely soft when it comes to obstacles like tables and walls. This makes it an excellent option for homes with a lot of furniture. It's also extremely thorough in cleaning up dust bunnies. This is a place where most robot vacuums of lower quality aren't able to meet. The Q5+'s navigation system is also superb, with only a few mishaps along walls or in corners.

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a sophisticated well-rounded mop and vacuum. It's capable of vacuuming and mopping. Its design is among the top in the market however it's quite expensive.

It's a small base station that looks beautiful and can be hidden when not in use. But the station's main selling factor is its ability to automate various tasks and functions that most other robots leave up to you. It can store clean and dirty water and electrolyze and heat the water. Most other robovacs will require you to perform this.

Its vacuuming performance is also impressive. It's one of the few robovacs I've tested that does very well at picking up debris on unfinished floors, and it's not as loud as the more expensive Roomba 980 or iRobot the 900 series.

However, the Freo X Ultra has its flaws, particularly when it comes to navigation. Its LiDAR and laser sensors aren't as reliable as other robovacs. This means it can get stuck or confused in certain areas of your home. It's also not able to climb stairs like other competitors and doesn't come with a docking station to create a cleaning area for carpets with plush padding.

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is an excellent choice for those who need a vacuum robot that can do it all.

If you're looking to cut costs or don't mind the limitations of the robot, there are other options available. Many eufy models cost significantly less. The eufy Qrevo Curv, for instance is less expensive and offers a similar in-app experience with more features, including stair climbing, a full-function dock, and better overall performance when vacuuming floors as well as high- and low-pile carpets.

eufy is an Anker company that has a history of producing robot vacuums that have the right balance of performance, features, and price. It also has a bigger dust bin that doesn't require to be emptied as often and comes with an array of boundaries that keep it away from certain areas. The G30, on the other hand, is more affordable and is much simpler to maintain. Its smaller dust canister doesn't need emptying as often and it has less trouble with heavy materials such as cereal.
